"Pool Boy" composer, Niko Tsakalakos, performing at BSC cabaret

PITTSFIELD >> "Pool Boy" composer Niko Tsakalakos is returning to Barrington Stage Company's Mr. Finn's Cabaret at 8 p.m. Monday with "The Niko Songbook."

Joining Tsakalakos will be Annie Golden, Alyse Alan Louis and Eric William Morris.

Solomon Lerner (BSC's "The Golem of Havana") is music director.

Barrington Stage's Musical Theatre Lab produced the premiere of Tsakalakos' "Pool Boy" in 2010. He also appeared at Mr. Finn's cabaret in "Songs of a Night Owl" and "Late Nite with Niko." His work is a mixture of rock, pop and jazz.

On Monday, he will perform songs from "Pool Boy" and from his latest compositions — "Fall Springs" (music and lyrics by Niko Tsakalakos, book and lyrics by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb) and his new folk-rock musical, "Into the Wild" (music and lyrics by Niko Tsakalakos, book and lyrics by Janet Allard), based on the best-selling book by Jon Krakauer. The show has been commissioned by Perseverance Theatre [PT] in Alaska — where it will have its world premiere at Perseverance Theatre in spring 2017 at both its Juneau and Anchorage locations — and received development support from the Ground Floor at Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Tsakalakos also works with San Francisco-based playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb. They are now writing a full-length eco-conscious musical, Fall Springs, which has received generous development support from Ars Nova, New Dramatists and TheatreWorks Silicon Valley.

Mr. Finn's Cabaret is on the lower level of the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden St.
