Profiting while others go broke

How come so many folks favor casinos but balk at raising taxes? I assume it’s easier to let gamblers add to the tax rolls. Those are the ones who may go broke while casino owners flourish.

Did you ever hear about the difference between gamblers and drunks? Both are in danger of addictive behavior, however a drunk can’t drink enough to end up bankrupt until many months or years of imbibing whereas a gambler can go broke in a matter of hours and lose his house and his family in the process.

No wonder the big boys want to bring casinos into our neighborhoods. You can be sure they never go broke.
