Public meeting on toll changes scheduled for Lenox

BOSTON >> The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has scheduled a public meeting on proposed changes to the tolling fare structure on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Lenox on Thursday, Sept. 15.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Highway District 1 headquarters, 270 Main St. It is the seventh and final public meeting that MassDOT will hold on this issue across the state.

The other public meetings are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Worcester; on Wednesday, Sept. 7 in Lynn; on Monday, Sept. 12 in Newton; on Tuesday, Sept. 13 in Framingham; and on Wednesday, Sept 14 in Springfield and Allston. The Springfield meeting will be held at City Hall, 36 Court St.

Written comments will be also accepted for two weeks after the public meetings until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28.

The MassDOT Board of Directors voted this week to completely demolish Interstate 90 toll plazas by the end of 2017 as a milestone in the state's progress towards All Electronic Tolling along the Mass. Pike, the Tobin Bridge and Boston tunnels.
