Purse snatcher at Six Flags really a murder suspect, say Agawam Police

AGAWAM (AP) -- Agawam police say a background check on a Holyoke man charged with stealing a woman’s purse at the Six Flags amusement park turned up quite a surprise.

Police say when they ran the fingerprints of the man who identified himself as Eliezer Santiago, they discovered that his real name is Rafael Cosme-Acevedo, and he is wanted on a warrant for murder in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Republican reports that he and another man were arrested Monday evening for the alleged purse-snatching incident in which cash and cellphones were taken.

Cosme-Acevedo was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Tuesday on charges of receiving stolen property, giving police a false name and being a fugitive from justice.

He denied the purse snatching and told police he found the cellphones.
