Qualprint honors calendar contest winners


PITTSFIELD -- Qualprint has selected 12 individuals as the winners of its 31st annual A Closer Look at the Berkshires 2015 calendar photo contest.

Those 12 along with the 17 individuals who received honorable mention honors, and 25 others that received recognition in the special Around the Berkshires section of entries will be published in Qualprint’s 2015 calendar.

This is the first time in the calendar’s 31 history that Qualprint accepted images online, and 75 percent of this year’s contestants submitted their images by that method. Many new photographers submitted images this year.

The first place prize of $250 was awarded to Patrick Barry, of Pittsfield, for his image of an airplane and sunset in Pittsfield. William Berryman, of Pittsfield, received the second place prize of $200 for his image of fall foliage on Cheshire Lake. The third place prize of $150 was received by Marlee Tyska, of Pittsfield, for her image of a fallen leaf on water in Pittsfield.

Runner-up awards were received by Jan Paxton, of Washington, Linda Galok, of Pittsfield; Megan Gorton, of North Adams; Jane McWhorter of Great Barrington; Florian Ptak, of Pittsfield; Tim Reynolds of Pittsfield; and Elisabeth Smith, of Pittsfield. Paxton received awards for two of the images that she submitted.

Honorable mention honors were awarded to Steve Astore, of Pittsfield; Karen Bowler, of Chicopee; Bruce Carnevale, of Pittsfield; Nancy Choquette, of Savoy; Bud Deyo, of West Stockbridge; Nicolette Enhorning-Picton, of Peru; Tracy Goodrich, of Pittsfield; Sheena Hatch, of West Stockbridge; Karen Karlberg, of Becket; Daniel Morgan, of North Adams; Chris Parella, of Douglas; Lorraine Roman, of Lee; and James Smith, of Adams. Barry, Bowie, Gorton and Paxton also had images featured as honorable mentions.

Those who received recognition in the Around the Berkshires section include Ray Arsenault, of Stamford, Vt.; Suzanne Avery, of Otis; Marisa Burntitus, of West Stockbridge; John Eagar, of Seneca, S.C.; Charles Flint, of Lenox; Roger Hart of Lenox; Paul Hergenrother, of Pittsfield; Ann Kotowicz of Pittsfield; Linda Lambert, of Pittsfield; Jacqueline Lee, of Hinsdale; Sarah Luczynski, of Williamstown; and Leo Mahoney of Lenox.

Also receiving recognition were, Stacy McMahon, of Great Barrington; Diana Norton, of Lanesborough; Jim Parisien, of North Adams; Elaine Radiss, of Great Barrington; Paul Rodriguez, of Lee; Patricia Sadin, of Savoy; Cathy Saunders, of Pittsfield; Debbie Storie, of Lanesborough; and Kara Thornton, of Dalton. Barry, Berrryman, Paxton and Elisabeth Smith also have images that will appear in this section.

Applications for the 2016 Calendar Contest will be available in January 2015.
