Breakfast benefit for Berkshire Trail: Berkshire Trail Elementary School's PTO will host its annual pancake breakfast, from 9 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, at the school, 2 Main St. (Route 9) in Cummington.
The public event will feature pancakes and french toast, coffee, milk and locally produced maple syrup, sausage and bacon. The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children and seniors.
Mountain Road School open house: Parents and children from pre-kindergarten through Grade 8 are invited to an open house program, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, March 18, at Mountain Road School, 4565 County Route 9 in New Lebanon, N.Y.
Prospective families can enjoy a cup of tea, learn about the school; tour the classrooms and 20-acre wooded campus, including the newly restored 1788 Hand House, and meet with teachers and students as school is in session.

'Live Your Dream': Berkshire Museum's Little Cinema on South Street, Pittsfield, will host a special screening of the film, "Live Your Dream: The Taylor Anderson Story," tonight at 7, to commemorate the third anniversary of the devastating Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan. A discussion with the director, Regge Life, will follow. General admission is $7.50, $5 for museum members.
The documentary is about Taylor Anderson and other young people who travel the world trying to make a difference. Anderson, an American, dedicated herself to teaching Japanese children, living her dream right up to the events of March 11, 2011. The film is 90 minutes and is not rated.
Young women writers celebration: A "Celebration of Young Women Writers" will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre at Shakespeare & Company in Lenox. The event is part of the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers.
Coordinated by education artist Carmen Mandely, the writers, ages 12 to 19, will share their original poetry, short stories and short plays. Participants hail from local schools.

Southern Berkshire ‘Eagle Fund' honored: The Board of Governors of the Eagle Fund, a educational enrichment foundation for the Southern Berkshire region, invites the public to attend a free 15th anniversary celebration from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday at the Consolati Performing Arts Center at Mount Everett Regional School in Sheffield.
The event will include musical and other performances and demonstrations by grantees, a showcase of programs that have benefited from the fund, refreshments and an anniversary poster contest awards presentation.
