NATURE PLAY GROUP >> The Williamstown Rural Lands will offer from 1:45 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 6, a drop-off nature playgroup program at its Sheep Hill headquarters in Williamstown for kids in grades 1 through 4. The program runs through Jan. 27. Siblings of participants outside the age range will also be considered. Leslie Reed-Evans and Williams College students will lead activities include tracking, baking, stories, games, crafts and, weather permitting, sledding.

The fee for the four-week series is $40 for WRLF members and $55 for non-members. Individual sessions are $12 for WRLF members and $15 for non-members. A snack will be provided. Register at wrlf.org or call 413-458-2494 for more information.

ALLTECH YOUNG SCIENTIST COMPETITION >> The registration deadline for the 2016 Alltech Young Scientist program, the world's largest university-level competition in agriscience, has been extended until Dec. 31. Students must be nominated by a professor to participate and may submit scientific papers on topics such as animal health and nutrition, crop science, agriculture analytical methods, food chain safety and traceability, human health and nutrition and other agriscience related sectors.
