Berkshire Country Day School, 55 Interlaken Road (Route 183), Stockbridge, will host fall open house programs for preschool through Grade 9, from 9 to 11 a.m. this Thursday, and again on Thursday, Oct. 27, for parents and caregivers. An open house for adults and children will be held at the same time on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Smart Girls is a healthy lifestyles programs that's being offered now at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Berkshires, and is still accepting members. It teaches girls, ages 8-16, about life skills such as organization, healthy eating habits, and more. The program meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m.,on Mondays and Wednesdays, and costs $15 for members; the membership fee is $20. Info and registration: bgcberkshires.org or 413-448-8258

The "Uncommon Journeys" lecture series at Bard College at Simon's Rock presents alumna Brooke Skinner Ricketts ('97) at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Daniel Arts Center, 84 Alford Road, Great Barrington. In her talk, "Selling Out Early: Lessons from a Career on the Implosion Team," she will discuss how she's combined the values of her education and corporate marketing skills to effect social change within the corporate world. She has been a brand strategist for tech-based companies like Twitter and Avant. The event will be followed by a Q&A and a light reception, and is free and open to the public.
