Replace Dalton's hazardous PO
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
I am writing about the dangerous location of the Dalton Post Office, adequate when it was built in 1929, but not now.
Dalton needs a new, safer location that eliminates the possibility of a terrible accident involving postal customers going to and from the current post office on Main Street. Converging traffic from a Shell station next door, a Mobil station across the street, Daly Avenue traffic, Main Street traffic exceeding the speed limit in both directions and River Run pedestrians and traffic all add to Dalton’s need for a new post office location.
I suggest that the lower floor of the former Crane Stationery building on Flansburg Avenue be used for a new post office. This issue has been sidetracked for too long. Something must be done before it is too late.
