Residents invited to place flags at veterans' graves in Adams on Saturday
ADAMS -- One of the sure signs of spring is the appearance of U.S. flags placed at the graves of departed veterans: It's a reminder that Memorial Day is coming and the summer season is just around the corner.
In Adams, the flags are placed on the graves by local volunteers, Boy Scouts and veterans representing the American Legion Post 160 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1995.
This year, the flags will be placed on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Flag coordinator John Bordeau says that local volunteers are always welcome to lend a helping hand in distributing the flags. He will be at Bellevue Cemetery to distribute the materials and welcomes anyone who wishes to "help out" to be at the cemetery.
All participants are invited to "pizza party" at the Adams American Legion once the project is completed.
