Richmond: Pie Social slated for Sept. 15

Friday September 14, 2012

A citizenship award and two or three dozen homemade pies are the major items on the agenda for the Saturday, Sept. 15, gathering at a scenic field in Richmond.

Sponsored by the Richmond Land Trust and the Richmond Historical Society, the pie social begins at 1 p.m. at a field behind the William and Marylyn Ratcliff home on March Hare Road. A tent has been erected at the site, and the field has been mowed to create ample parking.

Formerly a picnic, the event in recent years has featured pie instead of a complete lunch, and the array ranges from several kinds of apple to lemon meringue and chocolate cream.

The event is free to all year-round and part-time residents.

The 2012 winner of the Charles and Mary Kusik Citizenship Award will be announced.
