Richmond: Scholarships available to Richmond students

Graduating high school seniors and college students are eligible to apply for eight scholarships offered in Richmond.

Application forms are available at the post office, high school guidance offices, Richmond Free Public Library, Bartlett's Orchard building, or from Patricia Malnati of State Road.

One form covers all eight scholarships. To be eligible, students must be year-round residents of Richmond who are continuing their education past high school.

The awards include the William A. and Hazel B. Dickson Scholarship Fund; the Anita Chapman Scholarship Fund; the Mildred Wheeler Memorial; the Sarah MacDonald fund; the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department/Malnati Family Scholarship; Joyce C. Spence award; Harold Kingsley Scholarship; and George Kingsley Scholarship.

The awarding committee is made up of representatives from five town organizations. Major considerations are academic achievement and community service.

All applications must be submitted to Malnati by May 1, and recipients will be selected prior to high school awards ceremonies.
