Roundup: MCLA men top Vermont Tech


TROY, N.Y. — The MCLA men's basketball team bounced back from a bad showing against Southern Vermont on Saturday with a 77-65 win over Vermont Tech on Sunday at the Tri-State Shootout, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The Trailblazers were led by Dakari Hannah-Wornum, who went for 15 points, 27 rebounds and three blocks in the win. Paul Maurice scored 22 points off the bench, Merle Darling added 13 points and Kalil Paul had 14 points and three assists.

MLCA worked up a 37-31 lead at halftime.

For Vermont Tech, BJ Conaway had 31 points and Logan White added 15.

MCLA is now 3-7 going into the winter break.

NCAA Women's Basketball


On Saturday in Schenectady, the MCLA women's basketball team had its winning streak snapped at seven by the hands of Union, 62-49.

Union used a 19-9 first quarter to take control of the game. The loss drops MCLA to 7-3 going into the winter break.

For the Trailblazers, Courtney McLaughlin had 12 points and Brayleigh Hanlon added 10. Kayla Hotaling had seven points and six rebounds.

Union was led by Jenni Barra with 13 points.
