Roundup: MCLA women win fifth game in a row


NORTH ADAMS — Pittsfield graduate Courtney McLaughlin scored a game-high 19 points, leading the MCLA women's basketball team to a 62-38 win over Utica College on Wednesday. The win is the Trailblazers' fifth in a row.

The 'Blazers' defense allowed them to jump out to a big lead early. They forced 15 first-half turnovers, en route to a 28-17 lead at halftime.

Kayla Hotaling had 14 points and 15 rebounds for MCLA while Brayleigh Hanlon added 10 points.

Mary Miceli led Utica with eight points.

MCLA will host Simmons College at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Men's Basketball


In Middletown, Conn., MCLA could not overcome a 16-point first half deficit, falling on the road to Wesleyan. The loss is the Trailblazers' fourth in a row.

Five straight points from Khalil Paul got the 'Blazers' deficit to five early in the second half, but the visitors could not close the gap any further.

Paul led MCLA with 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists. St. Joseph graduate Joe Wiggins had 13 points. Dakari Hannah-Wornum added 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Harry Rafferty led Wesleyan with 19 points.

MCLA returns home to face WPI, next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
