Roundup: Molly Tierney nets two as Pittsfield girls top Mount Greylock
"It's a big win for us," PHS coach Andy Waluszko said. "We know every game is a playoff game going down the road. ... We played really well as a team, the whole team played really well defending, really limiting the number of shots Mount Greylock was able to get."
Molly Tierney scored on either side of halftime for the Generals (4-10-3, 1-2-3 Berkshire North).
The winner came just over nine minutes into the game, as Tierney converted on a pass from Lizzie Swanson. In the 3-1 loss to Greylock at the start of the year, Tierney did not play. Waluszko said her presence makes a difference for the team.
"In the beginning of the year she had a broken bone," Waluszko said. "She's been out a while. It's healing, it's getting better, and she's getting more confident."
For Mount Greylock (9-5-2, 2-4-1), Isabella Nicastro stopped 10 shots in the loss. Hayley Tobin stopped seven shots for PHS.
