Roundup: Taconic's Mike Kays shoots a 78 at MIAA Division I golf tournament

HAVERHILL — Taconic's Mike Kays capped his senior golf season by shooting a 78 at Haverhill Country Club in the MIAA Division I golf tournament on Monday.

Kays shot a 38 on the front 9, and finished with a 40 on the back 9.

Two golfers split the medalist honors, with Barnstable's Holden Elleston and Boston College High's Jack O'Donnell each shooting a 69.

BC High took home the team title with a 304, and St. John's (Shrewsbury) finished one stroke behind with a 305.

Kays had the third-highest round of any western Massachusetts golfer. Minnechaug's Peter Wurszt shot a 75 while Longmeadow's Mike Bechard shot a 76.
