Saturday's colleges: MCLA's women win big
NORTH ADAMS -- MCLA's women's basketball team ended the first half on a 10-0 run, continued that dominant stretch to start the second half and beat Southern Vermont 83-52 on Saturday.
Brayleigh Hanlon scored a game-high 24 points for the Trailblazers (4-7), with Kaitlyn Chenevert adding 16 more points. Tashari Rainwater grabbed 12 rebounds for MCLA.
PHS product Ritrosky stars for E. Conn. State
PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- Pittsfield High School product Jill Ritrosky scored 11 of her career-high 27 points in the game's final 9 minutes as Eastern Connecticut State earned a Little East Conference win, 59-38 over Plymouth State.
Ritrosky also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, and was 10 for 16 shooting in the win. It's her third double-double in her last four games.
Hockey: Williams men win
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- Freshman George Hunkele scored the game-winning goal 56 seconds into overtime, giving Williams a 4-3 win over Hamilton in the consolation game of the Buck Supply Winter Classic.
Frankie Mork, Sam Gray and Zander Masucci had the other goals for Williams. Noah Klag stopped 18 shots in goal for the Ephs (6-1-2), who next play Tuesday night in the "Frozen Fenway" series against Trinity at Fenway Park in Boston.
Wrestling: Ephs fourth at invite
WILLIAMSTOWN -- Williams, with just nine competitors entered, scored 62 1/2 points to take fourth place at their own invitational.
Springfield College won with 135 1/2 points, with Simpson (Iowa) second and Wesleyan third. Williams' top individual was sophomore Tim Garripoli, who was second at 149 pounds.
