Saturday's high schools: Carroll's homer lifts Taconic baseball
PITTSFIELD -- Hoosac Valley (9-9, 7-6) got six strong innings from starter Matt Braman, but Dan Carroll's seventh-inning home run allowed Taconic to rally and take the game 3-2.
Carroll's seventh-inning long ball sent the game into extra innings, and the Braves used small ball to take the lead.
With Kevin Squires on third, Jake McNeice dropped down a bunt, scoring Squires on a squeeze play.
Three Braves pitchers combined for eight innings of six-hit ball.
"We had a couple opportunities where we could have blown it open," Hoosac coach Bob Rivard said. "We just can't get the hit when people are on base."

Turners Falls 3, Lenox 1
LENOX -- Alex Carlisk's two-RBI double in the fifth proved to be the game-winner for Turners Falls.
Carlisk provided the offense, and pitcher Tyler Chardoreau shut down Lenox's offense. Chardoreau pitched a complete-game three-hitter, walking one and striking out one.
Lenox coach Kevin Downer said Chardoreau was not overpowering, but he was throwing strikes the whole game.
Ultimately, the Millionaires' inability to generate offense cost them the game.
"We left a couple runners in scoring position," Downer said. "The difference between us and them is they had timely hitting and we didn't."
