Savoy town meeting scheduled

SAVOY — The annual Town Meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m., at the firehouse.

Voters will be asked to approve the 2009 town budget and the appointment of a "Green Commission" consisting of five members to help promote energy conservation and a more efficient use of the town's resources.

Nineteen articles are on the warrant.

Town elections will take place on Wednesday, May 20. Nine seats are open. Candidates for only four of those spots are on the ballot.

Ronna Brandt Tynan and Brenda Smith are running for the job of town clerk. Selectman John Tynan is running again for that spot. Susan McGrath is seeking another term as tax collector. Ronna Brandt Tynan is running to keep her job on the park commission.

No candidates are running for assessor, cemetery commission, moderator, planning board and school committee.

Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. at the Senior Center on Main Road.
