PITTSFIELD — The Berkshire United Way's Pittsfield Prevention Partnership honored Amber Chadwell, 14, with its June 2015 S.A.Y. (Supporting and Acknowledging Youth) It Proud award for her contributions at the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center. Chadwell and her two siblings have been going to the center for the past three years.

"From the first day Amber started, she was a natural leader. The staff were very impressed with her ability to stand out from her peers and lend a helping hand wherever needed," said her nominator, Darius Griffin, the Center's finance manager.

Chadwell has been a member of the Center's Teen Outreach Program, and helps out in the ABC program, aquatics program, and with service-learning projects in the community. "She comes in with a positive attitude, always smiling and ready to take on the day," Griffin said.

An honor roll graduate of Herberg Middle School and an athlete, Chadwell will attend Pittsfield High School this fall. Said Griffin, "She is a positive role model for all adolescents and children who attend our program. We look forward to her continued participation."
