SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. (AP) -- Police say an Albany-area woman has died after a brutal beating at the hands of her 22-year-old son.
Anthony Repp was arrested Friday in connection with the attack on his mother, 58-year-old Cynthia Matala, and his stepfather, 62-year-old Michael Matala, at their home in Schaghticoke.
New York state police say Repp killed the couple and then hopped a freight train to Massachusetts. He was picked up in Deerfield, Mass.
Michael Matala was pronounced dead Thursday. His wife, Cynthia, died late Friday at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Police said they were in the process of extraditing Repp to New York to face murder charges.
