Elder Services of Berkshire County
Elder Services offers many resources and services for Berkshire seniors, including Meals on Wheels and senior group lunches, information & referral, case management, homemaker, personal care, grocery shopping, companionship, laundry service, money management, supportive housing, health insurance counseling (SHINE), caregiver services (including respite care, support groups and one-on-one support), Long Term Care Ombudsman program, Healthy Aging programs, and a Senior Training and Employment Program. Lunches prepared by Elder Services are served at Councils on Aging and Senior Centers in the following communities: Adams, Becket, Cheshire, Dalton, Great Barrington, Hinsdale, Lanesborough, Lee, Lenox, North Adams, Pittsfield, Stockbridge and Williamstown. There is a suggested donation of $2 per meal.

The COA office, located at 3 Hoosac St., is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and van service is available from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; call (413) 743-8333 at least two days in advance for medical appointments, in-town shopping, banking, and rides to the Visitor's Center for lunch and/or programs. SHINE, Health Insurance Assistance, is available every Monday by appointment.

Congregate meals are served Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m. at Town Hall. Bingo will follow the meals. There is a suggested donation of $2. For reservations, call Sonny at (413) 623-8934, ext. 27, on Tuesday or Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
A blood pressure clinic is offered on the third Tuesday of each month. Brown Bag is offered on the third Friday, and a pot luck is offered on the fourth Friday of each month.

Nutritious meals for persons 60 and older are served at the Senior Center on Mondays and Thursdays. Reservations for lunch must be in by noon of the business day before by calling (413) 684-2000. A donation of $2 is requested.
The Café will be open from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. The building is equipped with WiFi; bring a laptop and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.
The COA office at 40 Field St. Ext. (corner of Field and High streets) is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. BRTA tickets may be purchased during regular office hours. The monthly calendar of events is available on the town website, www.dalton-ma.gov.
The COA van is available for all Dalton elderly and handicapped residents from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Reservations must be made at least 24 business hours in advance by calling the COA at (413) 684-2000.
Outreach and SHINE counselor Pattie Pero is available to meet with Dalton seniors or residents to assess and discuss their needs, either through appointments at the COA office or in their homes. She may be reached by calling (413) 684-2000.
The Florida Senior Center, located at 367 Mohawk Trail, across from the Florida Baptist Church, is open from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday. For assistance or further information on activities or special events, call (413) 662-2811.
Registration for all special events and meals, two days in advance, is requested.
Parties interested in receiving the monthly newsletter for $5 a year by USPS can call or receive it free via email by contacting email@example.com.
The COA requests people to sign up 2-3 days before all special evnts or meals.

The Claire Teague Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Director Polly Mann. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Suggested donation: $2 for people 60 and over, $6 for all others. Call the dining room at (413) 528-4118 the day before to reserve your space. Transportation for the elderly or disabled is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To make transportation arrangements, call (413) 528-4773.
Nutritious lunches for people 60 and older are served at Hinsdale Town Hall, 39 South St., twice a week. There is a suggested donation of $2. Reservations must be made two days in advance by calling the meal site, (413) 655-2310, or the nutrition program, (413) 499-0524.
Special events: The COA is organizing a trip by school bus to the Smith College Autumn mum flower show on Nov. 11, stopping for lunch at The Blackburn Inn in Worthington and to The Country Store in Huntington.
A King Ward bus trip to City Stage in Springfield for a Christmas show of sung by Elisabeth von Trapp on Thursday, Dec. 12, with a buffet lunch at Storrowton Tavern Carriage House. A minimum of 40 people are needed; seniors $60, non-Hinsdale $80. Reservation deadline is the third week in October. Information: Rosanna Iacovelli at (413) 655-8069

The COA will hold an aerobics class from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., every Tuesday and Thursday, through the end of the year. Instructors will be Diane Elias and Jane Bryce. Cost is $3 per class and participants should be age 50 or older. Information: (413) 662-3125.

The Council on Aging has drop-in hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. The van is available every Thursday to pick up seniors and take them to the Great Barrington Senior Center for a nutritious meal, shopping, doctor appointments and errands. The Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the exception of major holidays, and is closed on Saturday and Sunday
The Senior Center no longer sells taxi or yellow cabulance tickets. The 2013 parking stickers are available for $4.
The Coffee Shop is open for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Elder Services provides lunch daily at 11:30 a.m. at the Senior Center for a $2 donation. Order meals 24 hours in advance at (800) 981-5201 or 499-9346.
Van transportation is available by appointment. Call (413) 499-9346 or (413) 499-9347, 24-48 hours in advance. The fee is $3 each way.
Supportive Day Program is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Prior arrangements are necessary. Call 499-9346.
Blood pressure screening is available. Appointments are scheduled every 10 minutes from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month.
Jewish Federation of the Berkshires offers a Senior Adult Kosher Lunch Program in conjunction with Elder Services of Berkshire County at Congregation Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Road. Reservations are required before 9 a.m. by calling (413) 442-2200.
Monday: Noon -- Lunch: Sweet & sour meatballs, chicken soup, noodles, mixed vegetables, pears, tea; 1 p.m. -- Tenor singer and guitarist Doug Schmolze plays music.
Tuesday: Noon -- Lunch: Roasted chicken, salad, oven-roasted potatoes, broccoli, tropical fruit salad, tea.
Thursday: Noon -- Lunch: Closed for Sukkot.

Senior lunch is held every Wednesday at noon, reservations are required by noon on Monday. Lee VNA blood pressure clinic is held the first Wednesday of each month at noon, walk-ins welcome. An osteoporosis prevention exercise class led by Patricia "Niti" Martin is held from September to May on Wednesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Town Hall.
