Senior Center opens path to 21st century

Tuesday May 21, 2013

Having been a Luddite for years I was apprehensive about using a computer. Feeling out of touch with ways of communicating with the world today I decided to try to learn to use a computer, even though I am in my late 70s.

I discovered the technical help at Pittsfield’s Senior Center computer center. The volunteer instructors are dedicated, generous and patient. Joe Major, who coordinates this program, is a treasure, ever helpful and informed.

Having worked with Jackie Dellert, a most gifted teacher, for 10 months, I have mastered the use of my laptop. I am enjoying all the avenues of connecting with today’s world. Email has become my friend, Google answers all of my questions, and Facebook is just fun.

Thanks, Senior Center for being there for all who wish to enter the 21st century.
