Sheriff’s daughter arrested after club shooting


NEW BEDFORD (AP) -- Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson has confirmed that his daughter was arrested after seven people were shot outside a New Bedford nightclub last weekend.

A police log shows that 29-year-old Michelle Hodgson of New Bedford was charged with intimidation of a witness after the shootings outside Jalice Cafe early Saturday morning. None of the injuries is considered life-threatening.

Details of the allegations weren’t released.

Hodgson told The Standard-Times ( ) that his daughter and her friends were inside the nightclub when the shootings happened. He says she was arrested during an encounter with a police officer while watching the police activity outside.

Hodgson says he believes his daughter will be cleared of any wrongdoing. She was to be arraigned Tuesday in New Bedford District Court.
