Small plane crash injures 2, traps 1 in Falmouth

FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) -- A small plane has crashed near a small airstrip in Falmouth, leaving two passengers with serious injuries and burns and trapping a third person in the plane.

Massachusetts state police say the condition of the person trapped in the plane Saturday was not immediately known.

The injured victims were taken by medical helicopter to hospital Saturday morning.

The crash sparked a fire in the woods at the Falmouth Air Park, a small airstrip near Fresh Pond Road. Falmouth fire fighters worked to extinguish the blaze and state troopers were deployed to control curious onlookers.

State police say the identities of those involved in the crash were not immediately known.

There was no immediate information on the origin and destination of the flight.

The crash occurred at about 11 a.m.
