Softball: Drury wins in 11 at Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- Three bunt singles in the top of the 11th inning drove in three runs, pushing the Drury softball team to its first win of the season, 7-5 at Brattleboro.

Cat Record pitched all 11 innings for Drury (1-2, 0-2). She gave up five runs on 12 hits, striking out nine batters. Drury coach Mary Ann Maroni said Record’s fastball, change-up and dropball were working best for her.

"I think this was her best outing by far," Maroni said. "Just about everything she threw [worked]."

Cat Marceau, Emily Moulton and Hannah Rivard all laid down run-scoring bunts in the 11th inning for Drury. Ali Brassard was 3 for 6 with two RBI for the Blue Devils, and Maroni said moving senior Allison Cellana to center field paid off big-time for the Devil outfield.

Wahconah 15, Renaissance 1

DALTON -- Wahconah wasted no time putting runs on the board, leading 6-0 after three innings and adding nine more in the fourth at Pine Grove Park.

Bridget Lussier’s three-run homer was the big hit of the fourth inning.

All the offense made Allie Borowsky’s day on the mound easy -- but the pitcher was still stellar for Wahconah (3-0, 2-0). Borowsky allowed a run on three hits, striking out eight and walking two.

"She really did a great job hitting her spots today," Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. "Coming in, [Renaissance was] 3-0, and they’d put up some monster scores. They had some great hitters in the middle of the lineup, and I thought she did a great job keeping them off balance."

Eight different Warriors picked up a hit Monday, with four players getting two hits each.
