Sound choices for Dalton voters

Saturday April 27, 2013

Tuesday, the people of Dalton will be asked to select two individuals to represent them on the Dalton Select Board. Among those running for the available seats, we are fortunate to have two outstanding people that I would like to recommend to our voters.

The first is our former Police Chief John Bartels. During his many years of service as a police officer and as chief as well as his involvement in other town boards and committees, John has proven himself to be an extremely level-headed and thoughtful person of exceptional integrity. John has shown these same qualities in his involvement and service to our greater community outside of town government. I encourage all Dalton voters to seriously consider voting for John on Tuesday. Our Select Board is in need of the thoughtfulness and experience that John can bring to the board’s deliberations. I know he has my vote.

The other person that I would recommend is current Selectman Bill Chabot. Bill has served in this position faithfully for the past 12 years. Our terms on the Select Board overlapped for about six of those years. Here again, I found Bill to be a person of integrity who approached the issues facing Dalton with a calm thoughtfulness. I hope our voters believe that during the past 12 years Bill has displayed the commitment and qualities that justify his being re-elected.
