Springfield man who beat, shot at rival, sent to prison

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. >> A Springfield man who participated in the beating of a rival, then shot at him and missed, has been sentenced to up to four years in prison.

Aris Alexis Bermudez was also sentenced Wednesday to four years of probation after pleading guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and illegal possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors say Bermudez was one of three men who beat up the victim outside of a Chicopee market in August 2014.

The three got in a car and Bermudez shot at the man they had beaten up, missing.

The Republican reports that Bermudez and the victim had a history of conflict and her client deliberately missed when he opened fire.
