Stamford, Vt.: Town wins grant for work on Sportsmen Road

The Town of Stamford has received a Better Backroads grant for $8,870. The grant is for the remediation of erosion to road surfaces, road runoff and sediment running into the nearby stream.

The project on Sportsmen Road required the replacement of one undersized culvert with a larger one and the construction of proper stone headwalls.

The length of the culvert was also increased, allowing the width of road in that area to conform to the width of the rest of the road.

The project, completed during summer 2013, will substantially reduce erosion from the uphill bank and from the road bed and water flow during heavy rain and storms will be handled effectively.
