Stephentown, N.Y.: Tasha Tudor exhibit at Post Office

A local resident has loaned her Tasha Tudor collection for exhibit in the Stephentown Historical Society display case at the Post Office, 389 State Route 43.

On display is a handmade doll and her complete hand-sewn wardrobe created by Tudor, a quilt, storage trunk and miniature games and toys, as well as several books illustrated by Tudor.

Tudor (1915-2008) was a New England artist and children's book author and illustrator. She deliberately chose to lead a 19th century farm life without electricity or other modern conveniences. She shared this world in detailed pastel and watercolor illustrations in her many books for children.

The collection on display is the result of many childhood summers spent as a neighbor to the Tudor family.
