Steve Martin pulls out of Tanglewood performance with Boston Pops
LENOX -- Tickets for Tanglewood's 2013 season don't go on sale until January, but a headliner for the first show of the season has already canceled their performance.
Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers, along with guest singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, have canceled their Tanglewood appearance with the Boston Pops on June 23 due to "unforeseen circumstances," according to the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Spokeswoman Bernadette Horgan said the BSO would have no further comment.
Martin and his group, however, recently rescheduled three concerts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania from early November to next spring, according to the band's website.
The Boston Pops under the direction of Keith Lockhart are still expected to open the Tanglewood season. A confirmation of the concert date and featured guest artist will be announced at a later date.
The Boston Pops are also scheduled to play Tanglewood with country music legend Vince Gill on July 7 and with American Songbook stylist Michael Feinstein on Aug. 16.
Tickets for Tanglewood's 2013 season, which runs from June 23 through Sept. 1, go on sale Jan. 27.
