The world premiere of "The Beasts," a new chamber opera with original libretto and music by David Anderegg, will be performed in a concert version (sung but not fully staged/acted) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, in the sanctuary of First Congregational Church.

"The Beasts" features the men’s a cappella group Quintessential; soprano Nellie Rustick; Courtney Getzin, violin; Gwenn Heller, viola; and Richard Mickey, cello. The opera will be conducted by Chris Clark.

A free-will donation will support the music programs of the church and the opera’s production costs.

The production is partially supported by a grant from the Martha Boschen Fund for the Arts, administered by the Berkshire-Taconic Foundation.

Parents should note that although the opera features talking animals, it might not be suitable for children.
