Stockbridge: Staged reading to benefit Multicultural BRIDGE

Posted
The comic drama, "Melissa's Choice," will be presented as a staged reading at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Unicorn Theatre, 6 East St.

The presentation is a fundraiser for Multicultural BRIDGE, a Lee-based not-for-profit organization that works to bridge gaps between ethnic, racial and economic groups in the Berkshires.

The play, written by Lenox-based playwright Steven Somkin, deals with the unintended pregnancy of a young lawyer, a women's rights advocate whose two boyfriends have diametrically opposed views on abortion.

Women's rights will be discussed at a post-performance panel by diverse religious leaders, feminists, and human rights activists.

Tickets are $35; the full amount is tax deductible and will be applied to a Summer Challenge matching grant.

Tickets are on sale at Berkshire Theatre Group box office, 413-997-4444 or www.berkshiretheatregroup.org.
