Suns up winning streak to six

LEOMINSTER -- The Pittsfield Suns have tied a franchise record for consecutive wins. The Suns earned their sixth straight victory with a 4-1 win over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs on Saturday night.
Pittsfield can break the record at Wahconah Park this afternoon when the Suns host Torrington at 4.
Jamin McCann improved his record to 4-0 with a quality performance on the mound. The left-hander from East Tennessee State went 8 1/3 innings, giving up one run on eight hits, walking two and striking out five. He lowered his earned-run average to 1.93.
Alex Lagos came on after McCann gave up a one-out single to Kurtis White in the ninth inning. Lagos surrendered a single to Joe Breen, but retired the side without damage.
Wachusett starter Mike Lundin took a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Luke Reynolds broke it up with a two-out single. One inning later, the Suns struck.
Pittsfield scored four runs on five hits. The key hit was a three-run home run by Gary Tesch. Tesch, who improved his batting average to .338 after going 2 for 5, now has four home runs.
Suns designated hitter Zack Tower went 1 for 4 and extended his hitting streak to eight games. Brian Bocchiccio, who has appeared in eight games for the Suns, has now hit safely in five straight.
