Suspect arrested after allegedly firing apparent BB gun at school buses in Adams

ADAMS >> Town police said no one was injured Friday afternoon and a suspect is in custody after shots, apparently from a BB gun, were fired at two school buses.

The name of the person arrested had not been released by early evening, and police were still investigating at the scene.

The person reportedly turned himself in to police and did not appear to be a juvenile.

Numerous emergency responders reduced traffic in the area around Lime and North Summer streets while responding to the incident, which occurred while Adams-Cheshire Regional School District buses were bringing students home after school.

Police did not say what kind of weapon was fired at the bus in question.

Authorities from Pittsfield Police Department and Berkshire County Sheriff's Office reported to a Lime Street command post following the incident, reportedly telling residents to stay inside their homes and canvassing the area with a K-9 unit.

Adams Police Department said details on the incident and the suspect in custody will be forthcoming.
