NORTH ADAMS -- The Berkshire District Attorney's Office says a 27-year-old North Adams man was stabbed multiple times on Saturday and remains at Berkshire Medical Center.

Mario R. Babbs, 25, of 1 Brook Terrace, North Adams, is being held without bail following his arraignment this afternoon on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. In Northern Berkshire District Court, Babbs had not guilty pleas entered to the charges.

Judge Michael Ripps set a dangerousness hearing for Friday in the case.

Authorities did not identify the name of the injured person, but did say he is being treated for multiple stab wounds.

North Adams Police and state police detectives assigned to the District Attorney's Office are investigating.
