Suspect pleads not guilty to striking cyclist

DEDHAM, MASS. >> A Wellesley man has pleaded not guilty to driving drunk, hitting and injuring a cyclist, then leaving the scene.

Twenty-one-year-old Connor Campanelli pleaded not guilty Monday to charges including operating under the influence of liquor and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury.

Witnesses told police Campanelli hit the cyclist at about 6 p.m. Friday and kept driving.

The cyclist, 47-year-old Bruce Ingle of Framingham, was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

A witness told police Campanelli had been drinking at his family's home earlier that day. Police say his blood alcohol level was .14, well above the legal limit of .08.

Neither Campanelli nor his lawyer could be reached for comment.
