Tanglewood: Conductor drops concerts

LENOX -- Conductor Christoph von Dohnányi has been forced to cancel his upcoming concerts at Tanglewood because of serious illness in his family.

His concert on Friday, July 18, will now be led by British conductor Edward Gardner in his BSO debut. The concerts on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, will be conducted by Austrian conductor Manfred Honeck in his Tanglewood debut.

Programs and soloists re-
main unchanged.

On July 18, baritone Thomas Hampson will perform Aaron Copland’s Selection of Old American Songs on a program that also includes music by Beethoven and by Richard Strauss.

On July 25, pianist Paul Lewis will perform Mozart’s Conecrto No, 12 in A, K. 414. Also on the program are works by Bee-
thoven and by Mendelssohn.

The July 26 concert is Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, "Resurrection," with Camilla Tilling, soprano; Sarah Con-
nolly, mezzo-soprano; and Tan-
glewood Festival Chorus, under the direction of John Oliver.

These concerts begin at 8:30 p.m. in The Shed.
