Taxes are burying U.S. middle class

Sunday December 9, 2012

I don’t understand why the people we elect into office can’t run the government on the budget and taxes they collect.

Our paychecks are taxed even before we get paid, and then they are taxed again. On every item we buy, our paychecks are taxed over and over again. It seems to me that we are being double-taxed and triple-taxed and there seems to be no end to it.

I don’t mind paying my share of taxes, but tax after tax? There is something wrong with this picture. They can’t run the government on the budget that is set up. Anytime the budget gets tight, our elected officials can’t figure out how to solve the problem without raising taxes. Anyone can run a government that way.

The people here just don’t have the money that was around when General Electric was in Pittsfield. They don’t have money trees in their backyards. Isn’t it nice that the rich have loopholes to reduce their taxes? If they paid their real share maybe the middle class would get a break.

Middle class families always get kicked in the head when it comes to taxes. Some people are working two jobs just to put food on the table. Don’t you think this is unfair in the U.S.?

The city, state and federal governments have got to learn to economize like everyone else does when things get tight. Don’t forget that the economy isn’t what it should be. Sure, people are spending now because of the upcoming holiday, but I bet most are using credit cards. There will be heck to pay after the holidays trying to pay off these bills.
