Tenth annual "A Christmas Carol" opens Saturday at Colonial Theatre


PITTSFIELD — Berkshire Theatre Group's annual community production of Eric Hill's stage adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" returns for the 10th year this weekend.

The engagement begins 7 p.m. Saturday at The Colonial Theatre, 111 South St., where the production is scheduled to run through Dec. 22.

Performances are scheduled at 7 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 17, 18, 21 and 22; 2 p.m. Sunday; and 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 19 and 20.

Co-directed by Eric Hill and Travis G. Daly and presented for the fifth time at The Colonial Theatre, this year's production includes 30 young Berkshire county actors, many of whom are returning and some who are performing for the first time.

Hill returns not only as director but also in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Other returning BTG company members include Courtney McLaren, Kathy Jo Grover, Hanna Koczela, Rylan Morsbach, Ralph Petillo, Gail Ryan, E. Gray Simons III, Rufus Taylor and Tom Towne.

The ticket office is open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturdays; and 10 a.m. until curtain on any performance day.
