The South Congregational, United Church of Christ in Pittsfield opened its doors to about 800 families today for the first (of what they hope will be annual) Thanksgiving pantry giveaway. The event was spearheaded by the Christian Center, and it brought together various churches and community organizations in the city to pool their resources and assemble a food bank for families in need in Pittsfield. Some 700 turkeys were distributed and the food pantry was open from noon until 5:30 p.m.

Here's a look at the event in pictures by Ben Garver, The Eagle's photo editor.
