The Berkshires honors Prince
PITTSFIELD — The whole world is mourning the loss of the legendary music artist, Prince, and also paying the best tribute they can, by wearing purple and partying like it's 1999, or anytime during his musical reign.
This weekend, Pittsfield will hold two dance parties in his honor.
On Friday, from 9 p.m. to midnight, Hotel on North will host "Purple Reign: the DJ BFG Prince Tribute." Sexy, funky and purple outfits encouraged.
Then on Saturday, the Whitney Center for the Arts, 42 Wendell Ave., will host a "Prince Celebration," starting when the doors open at 6 p.m. There will be a screening of the film, "Purple Rain," at 7, followed by music and dancing. Admission is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. There will also be a Prince-inspired costume contest with cash and gift prizes.
