"The Chinese Room" officially opens world premiere Saturday at WTF's Nikos Stage
WILLIAMSTOWN — Michael West's "The Chinese Room" officially opens 8 p.m. Saturday at Williamstown Theatre Festival's Nikos Stage, where it is now previewing.
Obie Award-winner James Macdonald is directing the world premiere of West's sci-fi comedy thriller in which a visionary in the field of artificial intelligence, Frank (Brían F. O'Byrne) has built a humandroid to preserve his wife Lily's (Laila Robins) memory — because she is losing hers. But when he is ousted from the company he founded, he must race to save his life's work.
The cast also includes Carson Elrod and Sue Jean Kim.
"The Chinese Room" is scheduled to run through July 23 with evening performances at 7:30 Tuesday through Thursday and at 8 Friday and Saturday; and matinees at 2 Thursday and Sunday and 3:30 Saturday.
There will be a special Lawn Talk before this Sunday's matinee, and a post-show talkback after Tuesday's performance.
Ticket information is available by phone at (413) 597-3400; online at wtfestival.org; or directly at the '62 Center for Theatre and Dance box office, 1000 Main St. (Route 2).
