The Forum: Lenox VFW awards $1,000 scholarships


LENOX -- The Lenox Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 12079 has awarded two $1,000 scholarships to Pittsfield High School and Lenox Memorial High School students.

The Lenox recipient is Jaclyn A. Gigliotti of West Mountain Road, daughter of David Gigliotti and Jan Ward. Jaclyn, a 2013 Lenox High graduate, was a member of the Student Relief Club and of Going Places, which serves special-needs students.

She was also a peer mentor and captain of the Lenox varsity basketball team. Jaclyn, who volunteers at the Lenox VFW and assists in the Church on the Hill Pantry, will attend Stonehill College in Easton.

Emily Dillon of New Hampshire Avenue in Pittsfield is the daughter of Christopher and Michele Dillon. A 2013 Pittsfield High graduate, she was a member of the Class Council and the Proteus theater group.

She also played on the varsity volleyball team. Emily's community activities include volunteering with the Pittsfield Halloween Parade, the Egremont School Fun Fair and the Berkshire Hills Halloween party. Emily also served meals at the Christian Center. She will attend the University of Maine.

Both scholarship recipients are close relatives of Lenox VFW members.
