The Forum: North Adams Public Schools host Holiday Food Drive for Friendship Center Food Pantry

NORTH ADAMS — The North Adams Public Schools is once again partnering with employees from City Hall, the North Adams Police Department, the North Adams Fire Department, the Spitzer Center and the North Adams Public Library for a Holiday Food Drive.

Donation boxes have been set up at all locations and employees and the public are invited to drop off donations of non-perishable food items as well as personal care items such as soap and shampoo. On Friday, Nov. 20, maintenance workers from the North Adams Public Schools will collect all the donations and deliver them at 10 a.m. to the Friendship Center's Food Pantry, located at 45 Eagle St.

While all non-perishable food donations are appreciated, the Friendship Center Food Pantry tries to provide those in need with healthy foods as much as possible and suggests the following items: cans and pouches of tuna fish, peanut butter, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, pasta sauce, low-sodium canned vegetables (e.g. potatoes, green beans and carrots), low-sodium soups, whole grain cereals (low sugar) and oatmeal, canned fruits (no sugar added), canned or dried beans (e.g. kidney beans and garbanzo beans).

In addition to non-perishable food, personal care items like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, etc. are always welcome at any time.
