The FORUM: Williamstown Theatre Festival accepting training program applications
WILLIAMSTOWN >> Williamstown Theatre Festival is now accepting applications for their prestigious training programs for the 2016 Season.
The program offers on-the-job learning opportunities for performers, directors, writers, designers, technicians and administrators.
Each summer roughly 250 aspiring theatre professionals are given a hands-on, fully immersive introduction to the world of professional theater and work side by side with some of the top professionals in the industry.
Among the luminaries who started their careers as part of Williamstown Theatre Festival's training programs: Kate Burton, Dick Cavett, Patricia Clarkson, Jill Clayburgh, John Conklin, Tom Fontana, Jennifer Grey, Michael C. Hall, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kate Hudson, Peter Hunt, Allison Janney, David Korins, Santo Loquasto, Gwyneth Paltrow, David Hyde Pierce, Christopher Reeve, Christian Slater, Kiefer Sutherland, George C. Wolfe, and many more.
Training programs include the Boris Sagal Directing Fellowship/Drama League Residency and the Bill Foeller Directing Fellowship; the internship program (includes internships in lighting, costuming, directing, stage management, props, carpentry, technical direction, scenic design, company management, sound, publicity, house management, graphic design, development, and production management); the apprentice program which includes a unique hybrid curriculum that brings together training and practical application.
There is also a non-equity company for actors. Members of the Non-Equity Company compliment the Equity Company in Main Stage and Nikos Stage productions and are cast in principal roles in the Fellowship Project productions.
Application deadlines are between now and March 1. Both merit and need-based scholarships are available to summer applicants. College credit is also available.
