Theft of plants hurts in Hinsdale

Tuesday May 14, 2013

I can’t think of what it takes for a person to steal perennials from the Hinsdale War Memorial. Stealing plants seems like a harmless practice but it is not. It costs well over $200 to replace the perennials, and then we buy and plant flowering annuals. It isn’t cheap and it costs taxpayers money. Hostas are expensive and many people have to split plants to give them away.

It is outrageous to steal from the memorial to war heroes who have died or been physically damaged for life, as was my uncle in World War II.
