Things to do in the Berkshires
Attention ladies: The Junior League of Berkshire County will host two Bunco events to benefit their programs for local youths.
Tonight at 7, "Bunco for Books" will take place on the sixth floor of the Clocktower Building, 75 South Church St., in Pittsfield. The second event, "Bunco and Brunch," takes place at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 4, in the same location.
Bunco is a game of dice and chance. No experience necessary. There is a $20 per player entry fee, or $30 for both events. Admission includes your donation, refreshments, snacks and prizes.
Each weekend, you can find jazz and easy listening music at the Gateways Inn Lounge & Piano Bar in Lenox. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. There’s a $15 minimum food/beverage purchase per person to help cover the cost of the musicians.
This weekend’s lineup includes: Roby Kelly & Friends, featuring JoAnne Redding on Thursday; Mark Kross and Louise Rogers on Friday, and Paul Green and Alan Simon performing Saturday. Get more details at gatewaysinn.com/nightlife.
Matt Cusson, Misty Blues Band and the Mason Zink Band are banding together to raise awareness and funds this Friday night for the Massachusetts chapter of the ALS Association.
The show starts at 7 p.m. at Berkshire Community College, 1350 West St., Pittsfield. Tickets are $20 general admission, and can be reserved by calling (413) 499-0886 or purchased online at seatyourself.biz/bcctheater. Donations to the cause can also be made through the website. In addition, for those dining at Patrick’s Pub in Pittsfield Friday through Sunday who mention the concert or bring in Friday’s ticket stub, 20 percent of your food purchase will also be donated to the MA-ALS chapter.
Also happening on Friday is a concert starting at 8 p.m., with The Emily Mure Trio at No. Six Depot in West Stockbridge. There’s a suggested donation of $10 to listen to this contemporary chamber folk outfit. Sneak preview Mure’s sound at: emilymure.com.
The bull is back this Saturday night at the Back Nine Bar & Grill in Pittsfield. There will be a mechanical bull provided by Berkshire Bull along with live music by Whiskey City, all beginning at 9 p.m. The $5 cover includes the band, bull rides and a bull riding contest. Yee-haw!

The folk/bluegrass/Americana group Down County heads up county to the Key West Lounge in North Adams this Saturday night for a post-show party after Phish bassist Mike Gordon plays Mass MoCA.
The Mike Gordon show at Mass MoCA starts at 8 p.m., with tickets ranging from $22 to $26. The Down County show at Key West Lounge is $5, featuring members Simon McTeigue (banjo, guitar, vocals), Misha Greene (guitar, vocals), Steve-O (bass, vocals), Jake Rolf (mandolin, vocals), Chris Gennari (guitar, vocals) and Brian "Lefty" Harrington (cocktail drum kit).
