Third Thursday : What to expect at 'Touch a Truck'

Trucks to fill North Street

For Third Thursday, on Aug. 18, in Pittsfield, Mass., North Street will be blocked off — as usual — to traffic from 5-8 p.m. and will be filled with parked trucks. Attendees can touch, climb and pretend drive — every little trucker's dream! Bring your imagination for fuel.

Trucks for little first responders

Fire trucks and patrol cars from the Pittsfield police and fire department will be on hand to explore, as well as ambulances from Action Ambulance Service and County Ambulance. The Dalton police and fire department will have a fire truck and vehicle there, too.

Big loaders

Don't forget your hard hat

If your little driver prefers big construction vehicles, don't worry, there will be plenty of big wheels to check out. Pittsfield Airport is parking its big pay loader with a big snow blower attachment. Pittsfield Lawn and Tractor and Tierney Construction will be rolling in as well.

Go Army, Navy or Air Force!

Go patriotic and sit behind the wheel of a vehicle from the U.S. Army, Navy or Air Force — all three branches of the military will be on hand on Thursday for little drivers and questions. The touch-a-truck event will take place between Bradford and Linden streets.
