Three hurt in Adams 2-car crash

ADAMS -- Three people were injured following a two-car crash on Grove Street (Route 8) Sunday evening.

At 6:13 p.m., Dorothy Martial was attempting a right-hand turn into her driveway at 212 Grove St., when her 2006 Toyota Corolla was rear-ended by a 2008 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Morgan Pettit from Pittsfield, according to Adams police.

Martell and an unidentified passenger were taken to North Adams Regional Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said, crediting seat belts for saving their lives.

Pettit was also hurt and apparently taken to a local hospital by family members. Both cars were heavily damaged and towed from the scene.

Police say charges are pending against Pettit as speed was a factor in the crash.
